Previously, the Little Common Community Centre Library had been a County Library until it was no longer required. A group of volunteers were given a donation and acquired the library with a few books and wooden shelves. The library re-opened on the Tuesday after Easter in 2002, after a hectic weekend of covering and cataloguing by a great group of volunteers.
We have 30 volunteers who share the duty on a Tuesday and Friday morning, plus we have a work party on the 2nd Wednesday of each month where we do all the ‘behind the scenes’ jobs.
The committee of nine volunteers co-ordinate the smooth running of the library. We also have a “Friends” group of supporters. We hold an open day every year to encourage as many people to visit the library as we can and sell excess book stock.
Since opening, we have replaced all the old shelving and the desk. We have also enlarged the book stock to just over 3500 books. We believe that Little Common Library is a
GREAT PLACE FOR A GOOD READ!
